Free Software in Five High Schools |

Linux Center started its project to install free software in five high schools in cities Krusevac, Ivanjica, Sremski Karlovci, Backi Petrovac and Velika Plana. High schools in these cities will have installed GNU/Linux on tehir computers, various educational software and GNU/Linux distributions dedicated with specific subjects (bioinformatics, computer aided engineering, general education, electronics, music. In addition, teachers and the students will be trained how to use and to contribute to the public sources of knowl edge such as Wikipedia, and open-access repositories of scientific, artistic, cultural and scholarly materials. However, a special emphasis will be given to training the how to use OpenOffice with social responsibility emphasized in methodology of training of use of OpenOffice. |

Linux Center started realization of the project that is aimed to train repsresentatives of NGOs, students of journalism and independent journalist in blogging about activities in their communities. Bloggings is conisdered as a potential to overcome conflict-only reporting that avoid activities done by the citizens and activities and events that are "not important to be on the national TV". Bloggers will have hier own sites and they will be trained how to use blogs, make them searchable and accessible for people with special needs. However, they will be trained on ethics of journalism and democratic moderation of their blogs. More information about the realization of this project you can find here. |
